The agreement governing your use of the ConsentVeil browser extension.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("you", "the user") and Safe and Informed S.R.L., a company incorporated in Romania, with registered office at Aleea Slt. Adrian Cârstea, Nr. 13, Bl. 37, Sc. 2, Et. 8, Ap. 141, Sector 3, Bucharest, Romania, Trade Register No. J2026050848009, sole registration code (CUI) 55462821 ("Safe & Informed", "we", "us", "our"), governing your use of the ConsentVeil browser extension and any updates to it (the "Extension").
By installing or using the Extension, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable minimum digital-consent age) to use the Extension. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
Subject to these Terms, Safe & Informed grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use the Extension on browsers you own or control, for your personal or internal business purposes. The Extension is provided free of charge.
The Extension is proprietary software. It is licensed, not sold. Safe and Informed S.R.L. and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Extension, including all intellectual property rights. No rights are granted to you except as expressly set out in these Terms.
Except to the extent expressly permitted by these Terms or by mandatory applicable law, you may not:
The Extension changes how websites look in your own browser: it hides cookie banners and, depending on your settings, blocks requests to known third-party tracking services. It is a filtering tool that you control, comparable to other content blockers.
If you operate a website and believe the Extension breaks an essential function of your site (for example sign-in, checkout or accessibility features), you may write to [email protected] from an address associated with the domain, or otherwise reasonably evidencing your authority. We will review such reports and, where we consider it appropriate, adjust the Extension's built-in rules for that domain. Because the Extension has no server, changes reach users through a subsequent update of the Extension. We reserve the right to request additional verification of authority, and to decline requests that would only restore a banner the user chose to hide.
Your use of the Extension is also governed by the ConsentVeil Privacy Policy. In short, the Extension collects and transmits no personal data.
The Extension is free. It contains no purchases, subscriptions, donations or advertising.
The Extension may be updated automatically through the browser extension store from which you installed it. Updated versions are subject to these Terms unless the update is accompanied by separate terms.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Extension will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will hide every cookie banner or block every tracker, or that any website will work as expected while the Extension is active.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory provisions of Romanian or European Union law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Safe and Informed S.R.L. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Extension, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the Extension is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Extension shall not exceed EUR 50 (fifty euro), or the minimum amount permitted by applicable law if higher.
This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or to any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including mandatory consumer-protection law.
These Terms apply for as long as you use the Extension. You may terminate them at any time by uninstalling the Extension. We may suspend or terminate the licence if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13 and 14 survive termination.
We may modify these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will change and the current version will be available at its published URL. Your continued use of the Extension after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms; if you do not agree, you must stop using the Extension.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Bucharest, Romania shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Extension, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you may have as a consumer to bring proceedings in, or to rely on the mandatory law of, your country of residence.
